The Challenge
At the forefront of stand alone football facilities, the Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex has served as an incredible facility for the Bulldogs since completion in 2013. However, the building’s branding and graphics remained unrenovated until Mississippi State Athletics approached Jack Porter with a desire to renovate and highlight the Bulldog brand by: honoring former players, commemorating the current team, and enticing recruits.
The Strategy
The Jack Porter team saw an opportunity to utilize the architecture of the building’s three-story, high volume, glass front lobby to create a larger-than-life brand moment for the program. The team designed a bold 20-foot video wall towering over a large M State brand mark where fans driving by can appreciate the brand recognition. Furthermore, a space where players, recruits, and their families can reflect on the success of the program and former players through the design elements.
Down the hall, a space was designed to showcase the tradition ingrained in the culture of the program that follows many players into successful NFL careers. Large plinths designed in the shape of Mississippi make a statement in highlighting 8 former Bulldogs who achieved historic success from State to Sundays in the NFL. In coordination with the plinths, a wall ticker displays the combined NFL salary earnings of those 8 players. Further showcasing program success, 250+ cowbells line the corridors to create an aspirational and inspirational nod to Mississippi State players drafted in the NFL.
