Project Details

As part of Clemson University’s commitment to expanding women’s athletics, a transformative project spanning over 30,000 square feet features a brand new Women’s Gymnastics Operations Center and Athlete Recovery Center (ARC), marking a substantial investment in Women’s sports at the university.

The Women’s Gymnastics Operations Center spans an impressive 21,000 square feet and serves as the dynamic hub for one of the university’s newest athletic programs. Jack Porter collaborated with Head Coach Amy Smith, HNTB, and Garvin Design Group to create a state-of-the-art facility that radiates energy and innovation. The design boldly embraces Clemson’s secondary color, purple, infusing the space with distinctive character while maintaining brand cohesion. From the striking exterior tiger paw to the meticulously crafted interior spaces, each element reinforces the program’s “be legendary, make history” ethos. This operations center sets a new standard for collegiate gymnastics facilities, creating an environment that energizes athletes while providing all the resources needed for elite-level training and team development.

Athlete Recovery Center

The Athlete Recovery Center (ARC) is a space dedicated to sports science, nutrition and sports medicine, offering a world-class experience for female athletes at the university. Overlooking the scenic Lake Hartwell, the center’s design seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape that enhances the Clemson brand, but does not take away from the tone focused on calmness and recovery throughout the space. Every aspect of the center was purposefully designed to promote tranquility and facilitate optimal recovery for student-athletes, ensuring they can perform at their highest potential.
