The Challenge

In the fall of 2015, Clemson University broke ground on their new Football Operations Center with the goal of setting a new standard for college athletic facilities. The Allen F. Reeves Football Complex was to deliver 142,500 square feet of state-of-the-art training and meeting spaces as well as some of the finest player and staff amenities in the country. But most importantly, this building was to be the “Epitome of Clemson,” as described by Head Coach Dabo Swinney. Jack Porter partnered with the football administration and HOK Architects to design an experience that “epitomized” the Clemson brand: its rich history, its tradition, and the current coaching staff’s philosophy of fun, family, and character.

A building that is

"The Epitomeof Clemson."

The Strategy

Upon entering the building’s main lobby, visitors are immersed in Clemson’s winning tradition with National Championship trophies and supporting graphics proudly displayed. The pageantry of the Clemson game day experience is captured with a replica of the iconic “Hill” complete with Howard’s Rock and a two-story mural depicting “the most exciting 25 seconds in college football.” The hallways of the building are lined with displays honoring All-Americans, NFL players, and the great moments and teams of the past. Interwoven with the all accolades are the core phrases and values that define Coach Swinney’s program, including a signature “ALL IN” wall providing the perfect photo op for visiting recruits.

The Gear Room

Clemson trumped the conventional gear display with a room fully dedicated to showcasing their Nike uniforms and apparel.

NFL Pipeline

A combination of backlit graphics, updatable lists, and digital content highlight Clemson's ever-growing list of alumni now in the league.

Walls of Inspiration

Coach Dabo Swinney's words of inspiration are creatively integrated throughout the space.

Epic Transitions

"The most exciting 25 seconds in college football" are brought to life in the space through the replica Hill from Memorial Stadium, complete with a replica of Howard's Rock at the top.

The Impact

The opening of this grand facility could not have been more perfectly timed. Fresh off the heels of the their 2016 National Championship, the building officially opened its doors on National Signing Day to usher in a new class of top recruits to the Clemson family.
