The Challenge
Michigan State Athletics took residence in the stunning 1855 Place, a new mixed use building, occupying athletic office space and a new Hall of Champions. MSU’s mission was to join these two spaces to offer a spectacular front door to Spartan Athletics.
The Strategy
Jack Porter worked alongside representatives from MSU Athletics and Neumann Smith Architecture to ensure that the brand experience was integrated with the architecture and interiors. Design decisions were rooted in a progressive, forward thinking mindset, all grounded by the core values of Spartan Athletics. Mixing a sense of permanence and progressiveness, the Hall of Champions plays a key role in honoring and celebrating the legacies of Spartan Athletics.
The Impact
“The Hall of Champions is a very unique space. We have honored individual accomplishments from our program’s history, but never a space that recognized the achievement of our team champions. We are about “the team” and their success. We preach the value of teamwork. Finally, we have a place that recognizes the accomplishment of our great teams.”- Greg Lanni, Deputy Athletic Director
