The Challenge

The West Virginia Football Hall of Traditions at Milan Puskar Stadium celebrates the rich history of Mountaineer Football. There aren’t many college football programs with more history than West Virginia. Mountaineer Football boasts an impressive 130 years of legendary players, unforgettable bowl victories, and beloved game day traditions.

The expansion to the Milan Puskar Center football facility created an incredible opportunity to deliver a completely new experience for the Mountaineer Nation’s loyal fans. The Jack Porter team partnered with West Virginia to bring their story to life throughout the Hall of Traditions, blending interactive experiences with historic memorabilia only accessible in athlete and staff areas to create a showcase destination for fans.

The Strategy

The Jack Porter creative team developed a strategy for the West Virginia Football Hall of Traditions that would meet the challenge of balancing 100+ years of significant historical stories and artifacts with creating an engaging experience for fans.

A blend of digital interactive experiences, traditional display cases, and shareable photo opportunities tell the Mountaineers’ rich story, appeal to fans of all ages and remain fresh for the future. Bold and dynamic brand moments, strategic lighting and use of the vertical height creates a dramatic first impression and immerses visitors in the spirit of the gold and blue.

More than Mountaineer Memorabilia

Trophies, bowl rings, vintage helmets, and classic uniforms—the Hall of Traditions showcases memorabilia that all Mountaineer fans love. But what's more is that it connects the story of West Virginia Football's roots to their future-focused momentum.

Shareable Experiences

Digital interactive experiences play a key role in fan engagement. Fans can explore stats and history, create a larger than life custom uniform (which makes for an amazing selfie opportunity), and even be immersed in the sights and sounds of game highlights with the interactive touch football display. The touch football display corresponds with a timeline of iconic Mountaineer game plays. When a visitor touches the football, they can relive that unforgettable moment on the big screen.

Fans can design their own West Virginia uniform—customizing color combinations, signing their jersey, and more. Once finalized, they can share it to the digital interactive tower for a selfie moment and get a QR code to share online.

The Impact

The Hall of Traditions captures the imagination and memories of program alumni and fans. It’s a game day gathering point, a front door to welcome recruits, and an inspiration to generations of Mountaineer fans. Let’s Go… Mountaineers!
